Weekend Happenings

Last Saturday, we spent as much time as possible outside, soaking up the sun and nice weather. First, we hit up the track for a speed workout.

Don’t mind the fake smile – I could barely stand up, let alone smile.

After wondering why we subjected ourselves to running in circles and coming close to vomiting, we headed south to the Daffodil Festival, outside of Junction City. With a promise of ‘mile after country mile’ of daffodils, how could we not?

The festival itself was quaint and simple with vendors to check out….

… and llamas to meet…

and the most beautiful setting. Can you imagine living in this little slice of heaven?

We sampled the cinnamon rolls (because, again, how could we not?) ….

and of course admired the bounty of daffodils for sale.

Daffodils everywhere! Even on the horses!

After making the rounds of the little festival, we swung by the house to pick up Sasha and Annie, and then headed to McDowell Creek Falls County Park.

The hike itself was a simple 3-mile loop that featured a section of steep stairs and one steep climb but overall was very easy. Unfortunately, we shared the trail at points with some unruly folks who were rather loud – not the most peaceful hike we’ve been on but still enjoyable. We saw little signs of spring cropping up here and there and any hike that features TWO waterfalls is always worthwhile.

After we wrapped up our hike, we were still itching for more time in the great outdoors, so we stopped off at Bald Hill park for a short walk with the girls.

This is where we go running and at first, the dogs were pretty sure that we didn’t understand – they kept looking at us like ‘Okay, and we’re going to run …. when?’ We enjoyed a lovely stroll, taking in the beautiful colors of this early spring day.

We walked until the sun departed and then headed home – a truly lovely Saturday (that helped brace us for a dreary Sunday!)

Did you have a lovely weekend?
