Hello and welcome!
My name is Heather, and I live in Oregon with my amazing husband, Andrew, and our spoiled
As a child, I was a shy, meat-and-potatoes kind of gal who always had her head in a book. I’m still a bookworm but over the past few years, I’ve had my own personal food revolution, exploring vegan and vegetarian lifestyles and finally arriving at the conclusion that a pescatarian diet suits the needs of my body. I have sought to clear away the clutter and define what makes my life whole: faith, family, food, fitness & photography.
I have a passion for all things culinary (I often can be found drooling over the latest Williams-Sonoma catalog or the food porn on Foodgawker or Tastespotting). I have a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering which I have done an exceedingly good job of not using. The science nerd in me loves to experiment and the kitchen is no exception; hopefully, those experiments will yield some delicious recipes to share here. When I’m not in the kitchen, you can often find me behind the camera, snapping pictures of any and everything.
I am an ardent animal-lover, especially dogs. Having worked as the adoption outreach coordinator for a county shelter, I’ve seen the nitty gritty of the animal sheltering community – both the good and bad but mostly the good.
Having recently moved all the way across the country from North Carolina to Oregon, I’m taking every chance I get to explore the natural wonderland of the Pacific Northwest.
With this blog, I hope to bring into simple focus random slices of life as we explore Oregon with our pack of hounds, from real.good.food to phenomenal hikes. Enjoy!
