About

Hello and welcome!

My name is Heather, and I live in North Carolina with my amazing husband, Andrew.

and our three spoiled children dogs, Sherlock, Sawyer & Wally.

As a child, I was a shy, meat-and-potatoes kind of gal who always had her head in a book.  I’m still a bookworm but over the past few years, I’ve had my own personal food revolution, exploring vegan and vegetarian lifestyles and finally arriving at the conclusion that a pescatarian diet suits the needs of my body. I have sought to clear away the clutter and define what makes my life whole: faith, family, food, fitness & photography.

I have a passion for all things culinary (I often can be found drooling over the latest Williams-Sonoma catalog or the food porn on Foodgawker or Tastespotting). I have a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering which I have done an exceedingly good job of not using.  The science nerd in me loves to experiment and the kitchen is no exception; hopefully, those experiments will yield some delicious recipes to share here. When I’m not in the kitchen, you can often find me behind the camera, snapping pictures of any and everything.

With this blog, I hope to bring into simple focus real.good.food and random slices of life. While I do enjoy the occasional fried smelt or crabcake, you can expect to find a mix of vegan and vegetarian recipes here. Enjoy!

Heather, your blog is so inspiring! I love your recipes and photography. I especially like this sentence: “I have sought to clear away the clutter and define what makes my life whole: faith, family, food, fitness & photography.” It is exactly the transition I feel myself going through at the moment.
