Friday Favorites

Friday the 13th … cue howling winds and flickering lights and all that jazz, right? I’m not superstitious (except when it comes to NC State athletics) so this is just another Friday over here in the Hunt household. And on this lovely Friday, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things of late:

Agatha Christie

favorites-2

This winter, Andrew started reading Agatha Christie’s Poirot books, and I followed suit. Ever since, I’ve been devouring these stories. I pick up the 99 cent copies at Goodwill whenever they pop up on the shelf there and download others on my Kindle. Agatha Christie was such a prolific writer and her life story is incredibly interesting. I’m three-quarters of the way through her autobiography and it has been such a good read.

Hiking Guides

favorites-3

We have accumulated several excellent Oregon hiking guides and I love pulling them out to read about all the incredible hikes that still await us. Flipping through these pages never fails to excite me for the weekend!

Stash Tea Double Spice Chai

favorites-1

Stash Tea is based out of Portland and Winco (the cheapo grocery store here) always has boxes for a good price. This has been one of my favorites and I love having a cup in the afternoon, especially on days when that lovely Oregon rain visits.

Vish Puri audiobooks

favorites-4

Another excellent example of me following Andrew’s lead. Back when we subscribed to Audible, we had built up quite a few credits so Andrew downloaded the Vish Puri series, written by Tarquin Hall. I finally got around to listening to them, and after the first book I was hooked. The stories center around Vish Puri, India’s most private investigator, and the cases he solves in Delhi. Entertaining, witty and descriptive, these stories truly transport you to another place. The narration is spot-on and I don’t mind admitting that the vivid descriptions of Indian cuisine left my mouth watering on more than one occasion and may or may not have led us to takeout from the local Indian restaurant (always a delicious treat!) I’ve thoroughly enjoyed listening to these books while doing chores around the house and working in the garden. I sincerely hope that these stories are made into movies – it would be wonderful to see them come alive. I highly recommend reading or listening to these books – I really can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t enjoy them!

Signs of Spring

favorites-12

It’s been exciting to discover tiny buds popping up on trees and bushes outside. I can’t wait to see what blossoms in our yard in the coming weeks!

Homemade Ice Cream

favorites-5

Andrew and I are ice cream fiends so we made some homemade peanut butter ice cream – yum yum yum! In case you’re wondering: 2 cans of (full fat) coconut milk, 1 cup of sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla, 1/2 cup peanut butter. Mix it together on the stovetop, heating just until the sugar dissolves. Then put in the fridge or freezer for an hour or two to cool it down to at least room temperature before pouring into your ice cream maker. It’s delicious!

The Hounds

How could I not include my furry children?? I love watching them play together in the yard – hilarious isn’t even the word when Sasha and Sawyer romp around together. They do this crazy half-dance/half-boxing move with each other and I always die laughing. Their dance moves alone are reason enough to adopt a hound.
