Easiest sauce (with a kick!)

Howdy, folks. Back again – craziness, huh?  This time I’ve got an easy little recipe for you.

This sauce covers a multitude of sins.

Bland veggies? Dip ’em in this.

Boring burger? Slather it on.

Stuffed up nose? Eat it by the spoonful. Just kidding…but it is spicy.

Something already tastes awesome? Make it even awesomer.

Unless you take a painstakingly long time to measure things, this sauce literally takes a minute to make. I seldom actually measure these ingredients – usually they just get tossed in until it ‘tastes right.’ Note that ‘tastes right’ is highly technical terminology

One minute chili-chipotle sauce

Materials

~ 3-4 servings (unless of course you hoard it for yourself…..then it’s 1)

  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder**
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder**
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • water to desired consistency (2-4 tablespoons)

**If you tend to think that most jarred salsas are too ‘hot,’ then dial this down to 1/4-1/2 teaspoon chipotle and 1/2 teaspoon chili powder. If, on the other hand, you think that ghost peppers have nothing on you, then by all means, amp it up, my friend, amp it up.

Methods

1. Combine all ingredients. Mix in water to desired consistency.

Yep – that’s it. Easy, right?

If all that hard work seems to be too much, then you can take an even bigger shortcut and just sub in ketchup for the tomato paste and sugar.

I consume large quantities of this sauce on a regular basis, and can tell you from experience that it is the absolute BEST when the chipotle powder comes from your own garden-grown peppers that your husband smoked to perfection. But no worries if you don’t, ya know, have that on hand – store bought seasoning is pretty darn good, too.
